Emerging methods in GW population inference
IFPU
23-28 June 2024
The general inference problem on astrophysical populations from large catalogs is a complex task. In gravitational-wave (GW) astronomy, developing robust, flexible and rapid hierarchical inference schemes has become a very active field of research. In this Focus week, we gather researchers developing promising population inference techniques, alongside experts in applied statistics. We aim at (i) consolidating the GW community statistical landscape, (ii) broadening it with recent developments in applied statistics, and (iii) establishing a set of shared tools to quantify stability, faithfulness and biases of inference algorithms.
